Let’s Be Frank: Insurance Team

Frank has always been focused on collaborative solutions. Providing advisors with the answers, resources and support needed to keep moving forward is what makes NBC Securities a premier network for independent advisors and advisory firms. Let’s hear how Frank’s vision and values have influenced the Insurance Team operations—direct from financial advisor and NBC Director of Insurance, Robert Alvarez, CFP, who leads the insurance specialists who embody Frank’s client-first approach:

Q: How do values such as transparency & honesty impact your process?

A: They are the cornerstones to developing any trusting relationship. We tell our clients that ultimately learning as much as we can about them individually as well as their family dynamic is how we approach every relationship. We know that consistency and telling our clients what we plan to do and delivering on those promises is how we build a relationship anchored in Trust.

Q: What goes into building trust with your clients? How does NBC’s independence come into play?

A: Delivering on our commitments consistently is our proven path to developing trust. Again, telling our clients what we plan to do and then delivering on our commitments is how we approach every client relationship. This consistency has proven to be our path to developing and earning Trust. I can’t imagine how we can truly serve our client and their best interests as Fiduciaries if we were not totally independent to always make what we believe are our best recommendations.

Q: Can you describe a situation where your team went above and beyond to meet a client’s needs?

A: Sometimes we are presented opportunities to do something that clients will never forget. One of my favorite stories about going above and beyond has nothing to do with financial recommendations or planning. We had an elderly client who had received WWII video tapes as a gift from his son. During a home review, we noticed the videos and discovered he hadn’t been able to watch them. After our meeting concluded, our team member Armand went to Best Buy, purchased the necessary equipment, and returned to fix the client’s video player. Though this client has since passed, when meeting with his surviving wife and son, the son’s first words were appreciation for enabling his father to enjoy that gift. As I like to say, “Clients will not always remember what you say but they will never forget how you make them feel.” My suggestion is take those opportunities every chance you get!

Q: How does NBC’s approach to comprehensive insurance planning help clients achieve long-term financial security?

A: Insurance products are just another tool in the toolbox. We know we cannot build a plan for any client without the foundation being built on firm ground. Insurance helps to strengthen our foundation and prepare for whatever storms may lie ahead.

Q: How do you incorporate elements of Frank’s founding vision in your day-to-day operations?

A: Frank genuinely took a personal interest in what was important to people. My humble experience with Frank goes back to probably the first 10 minutes I ever spent with him. You could tell he genuinely took a personal interest in learning what was important to us—not only on a business and professional level but on a personal level as well. It doesn’t hurt that we both shared a passion for saltwater fishing and Key West. We definitely heard a lot about NBC and RBC, about managed accounts and reporting, about operations and compliance. Honestly, much of what I heard I could not recall without referring to my notes, but I will never forget how he made me feel. In my opinion that is the secret to Frank’s success. I could tell that he truly took an interest in his clients on all levels. That is what we try to emulate each and every day.

Dreams are important.
Aspirations are what help make goals reality.
