Let’s Be Frank: Behind the Scenes in Private Wealth Services
We recently sat down with the team at NBC Securities Independent Private Wealth Services team to discuss what is most important to serving clients in the boutique financial and investment advisory practice.
Q: Preparation, access, and support are critical to good service. How have the resources available to you at NBCS allowed you to perform the best possible job for your clients?
NBCS makes it a priority to invest in providing best-in-class resources for all its advisors and clients. The partnership formed with RBC Clearing and Custody provides a technology platform that encompasses account opening, account servicing, financial planning, investment management and more. We are certainly not lacking in technology! In fact, our advisors have access to the same level of technological services and software as those that work for much larger firms. Also, knowing you can always contact any member of the NBC Securities Private Wealth Services team—and the person you are contacting has a singular goal to ensure advisors are well taken care of and positioned for success—shows that firm culture itself is a critical resource offered to NBCS’ private wealth teams. All of this helps us better serve our client, which is at the core of NBCS’ values.
Q: Describe how being a boutique advisory firm enables your division and your services?
Being a boutique advisory firm allows for genuine collaboration and a team mentality that is apparent across the organization. Upper management is always accessible to provide support, ideas or to resolve any issues that arise. At a larger firm, you would just be another number and would not get the personalized attention which is a clear priority at NBC Securities.
Q: What sets NBC’s Private Wealth Management division apart?
The experience, flexibility and resources. The leadership team has extensive experience with running a dually registered broker dealer/RIA, custody & clearing operations, trading, and compliance functions. They offer flexible business models for employees and a range of options for investors. NBC Securities is small and nimble yet has the resources that can compete with larger firms—supported by a staff looking to help individuals and businesses and find solutions, along with in-house portfolio managers, traders, insurance services, and a full technology stack.
Q: How do you think about—and put into practice—the importance of open, honest & transparent conversations with clients?
